The Scale Doesn’t Lie 12/3/11

So, I manged to start out pretty good.  Been watching what I eat more.  I still have a big appetite and have felt sluggish.  Probably because I’m eating a little bit healthier and not all the junk.  My biggest complaint for the week is breads.  I have a hard time staying away from breads.  I need to also get back in to the habit of drinking more water.  It’s crazy how the body adjusts when your making changes.  Even if they’re small ones.

I’ve said I’m going to just start small.  Cut my calorie intake and shoot for 3-5 pounds a week.  Don’t want to set goals just yet although I do have a few in mind that I may share later on.

I hope all is doing well on your journey’s and hope to hear from you in the comments.

I leave you with this question.  “when making every effort to lose weight, what are some of your hardest foods to give up?”

  1. You’re starting off great Jess, four pounds in a week is awesome. For me, I have a really hard time giving up food like pizza. I LOVE pizza, but it’s a huge trigger food for me. I can’t even really ever have it, because I live alone. If you live alone and you order a pizza, you know who’s going to eat the entire thing? You are. But it’s so good. Macaroni and cheese…I LOVE macaroni and cheese. Same problem though–I live alone. If I make a pan of baked macaroni and cheese, I can guarantee you I will be sitting there eating right out of the baking dish before the night is over. Brownies are another. They used to be a frequent binge food for me as well. I could eat a pan of brownies in a day or two with no problem. Probably while eating that entire pizza and a box of macaroni and cheese.

I could feasibly have these foods on my diet–and sometimes I do. If I eat them outside of my own house or at a function of sorts. Then I can have ONE brownie, or ONE helping of macaroni and cheese, or ONE (hahaha, who am I kidding? Two.) pieces of pizza. I just can’t make these things in my own house any more. Maybe one day I’ll be able to trust myself with all of those foods, but right now? Well, that day isn’t today.

    • Ha ha pizza is my ultimate weakness. I’ll tell you what though I’ve switched from pizza when I was introduced to Lebanese food. Kafta and Schwrma. It has become my pizza and addiction. Funny thing is I’ve only discovered it 6 months ago.

What kind of smart phone did you get?

  2. Heya Jess…

I just wanted to say it’s great to see you back, sharing your thoughts and posting…

There are people here rooting for you, and for your family as you make these changes. December is a tough month, with all the holidays, celebrations, etc. so I just wanted to pass along to do your best not to be hard on yourself if there are moments where it gets hard…

I’ll be cheering you on and checking back, so keep up the great start, and honour your hunger with as much fresh fruits/veggies/etc. as you can.

    Looking forward to hearing more!

  3. I’m glad you’re back at it, just as I am. It’s been hard getting back on track after my race in August and I’ve went up quite a bit. I’m doing all I can (like you are) to keep it real and honest while trying to post more as well. Keep at it, we can do this man, we really can!

    • Thanks buddy. Glad were both back. You think your going to head to FB’12? If so and would like to room again let me know. Not sure what Alan is doing.

  4. Baby steps are the only steps!! :-)

Like you, I often crave breads, crackers, chips and the like. It’s gotten to the point, however, that I can’t eat too much of them because they don’t feel good in my body so they’re not so much an issue for me. I believe that you will get to the same point too!

    Go Jess!
